Tobacco is grown on the Piedmont Plateau and Coastal Plain.  North Carolina is the leading state for growing tobacco. 

Arkansas is the leading state for growing rice.  Rice is planted by airplane or high-speed planting drills by tractors.

Georgia harvests about 500,000 tons of peanuts a year.  Georgia is the leading state for peanuts. 

Georgia and South Carolina grow peaches.

Cotton is grown in late April and early May.  Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee grow cotton.

Peanuts need 4 or 5 months to grow.  About 25% of peanuts are eaten as snacks.       

About 100 million grapefruit trees are grown in Florida.

8 out of the top 10 states that raise poultry are found in the Southeast.  The Southeast is very popular for growing poultry.
